We all aware of the fact that due to the second wave of the Wuhan virus pandemic, the 14th season of IPL was put to a halt and because of that all the international players in the IPL league also went to their home countries. However, as the situation is getting under control the Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI) has announced that the IPL 2021 Phase 2 will start soon, however, this time, instead of organizing the upcoming matches of IPL in India, the board has decided to organize the same in UAE.
As per the reports, it has been reported that the second phase of season 14 will take place from 17th September 2021. Also, it has been reported that the finals of the same will be played on 10th October 2021. However, as of now, BCCi has not given any official statement regarding the same. The reason behind this is said to be the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2021. The CPL league is commencing from 28th August 2021 and will end on 19th September 2021.
You all must be aware of the fact that in the second phase of the 14th edition of IPL, only the remaining games will be played and therefore, the BCCI wants that the CPL 2021 ends earlier than the usual time so that all the players of the CPL will remain available for the Phase 2 of IPL 2021. The BCCI has also urged the Cricket West Indies to wrap up the CPL league in advance by 7 to 10 days. In a statement given by BCCI top executive official, he revealed that the boards has spoken about the availability of the Caribbean players.
He further stated that they have also talked with Cricket West Indies and said that they have a good relationship with other boards, and they are optimistic about the fact that they will get a solution soon in a couple of days. It has also been said that some minor adjustments are needed to be done in the 2nd stage of IPL that will take place in the UAE and therefore, it is highly anticipated that the BCCI will make an official announcement regarding the beginning of the second phase of IPL 2021.
However, the only concern of the BCCI is regarding the availability of international players in the upcoming matches. England players have already said no and even the chances of joining of other players from other countries including Bangladesh, Afghanistan, New Zealand is also slightly less. So, the BCCI is left with only West Indies and other remaining countries. We will keep you updated, till then, stay tuned with us.
