IPL 2021 Suspended: Eight England Gamers Return House, Australians to Attend in Maldives or Sri Lanka

After the second wave of the Wuhan virus pandemic, the situation in the Indian Country is getting worse day by the day. With the alarming number of cases, India is facing the worst positive rate and in the last 24 hours, 3780 cases have been reported so far who are affected due to the ongoing pandemic. The adversity of the situation can be understood from the fact that IPL season 2021 has been put on halt permanently on 4th May 2021, that is, on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has assured to protect the international coaches and players.

Eight England Gamers Return House

On 5th May 2021, that is, on Wednesday, eight players of England went back to their home country, London amid the pandemic. The English team players including, Jonny Bairstow, Sam Billings, Chris Woakes, Jason Roy, Moeen Ali and Sam and Tom Currans of IPL franchise Delhi Capitals also went back to Heathrow Airport. One of the spokespersons of England informed the safe arrival of players and also stated that right now, the players have been Quarantined in the government-approved hotels.

Also, he informed that Eoin Morgan, Chris Jordan and Dawid Malan will also take off the flight for England in the next 48 hours. However, the international players, trainers, referees and experts of Australia have to wait a little longer in order to get back to their homeland. Nevertheless, the Australian cricket association are planning on bringing the players back to the home country through commercial airlines. Though, it will still take two or three days to carry out the operation. In a statement given by CA Intermin Chief Govt Nick Hockley in Sydney, he stated that the BCCI is trying to move the whole group of Australian cricketers to the safest place for the time being till their return to Australia.

When it was asked from the Chief of the Interim Cricket Australia (CA), Nick Hockey, whether they will still spend in the IPL league if it resumed in 12 months. He simply replies that it is an inappropriate time to invest in that. Right now the main concern is to safely bring back the Cricketers to their home country. Meanwhile, Australian cricket, Mike Hussey has to complete his quarantine period in India, as he was tested positive for the ongoing pandemic.
