ISSF World Cup: Vijayveer Sidhu Wins Silver Medal in Men’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Event

India has added a new feat in the ISSF World Cup as Vijayveer Sidhu has succeeded to won a silver medal in the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol finale round. The final round of the ISSF World Cup was held on Friday in New Delhi. Peeter Olesk from Estonia has won the gold medal in the final round.

It was a very thrilling combat between the shooters in the final match as Vijayveer Sidhu and Peeter Olesk were tied for the first position after accomplishing 26 hits each. At the end of the 40-shot final, these two shooters final score was equal i.e. 26 hits and in order to select the top shooter among these two, a shoot-off was held. They both were given five extra shots, however, Vijayveer under great pressure has managed to just hit the one. This made Olesk pressure-free as he has to hot just more than one and then finally he got four hits and won the top spot in the final series.

Following the first two spots achieved by Estonia’s Peeter Olesk and India’s Vijayveer Sidhu respectively, the third spot or the bronze medal was bagged by Oskar Miliwek from Poland.

Apart from Vijayveer Sidhu, there was other shooters from India who were selected in the final round of the tournament. The other two Indian shooters were Anish Bhanwala and Gurpreet Singh who have managed to achieve fifth and sixth spot respectively.

In the Qualification 2 round, the very talented Indian shooter Gurpreet was the best-placed from India’s shooters as he was positioned at third spot having a total number of 581 points, along with 290 shot in the first while 291 shot in the second phase.

In addition to that, Anish was placed at the fifth spot as he was having a total number of 579 score. In the meantime, Sidhu has also managed to make the cut after grabbing the sixth position which was the final qualifying spot. He collectively has total number of 579 in these two stages.

In the final qualification, Marko Carrillo from Peru was the one who outdid this stage of final qualifying by getting the top slot having total number of 582 scores and the second slot was given to Peeter Olesk of Estonia and the fourth spit was given to Miliwek.

Even though, Vijayveer Sidhu barely managed to grab the last or sixth spot in the qualification round for the final match of ISSF World Cup, but he was the only Indian shooter to grab a medal in the end.
