The Jharkhand Academic Council has decided to prompt the students of class 5 to 7 without them appearing for the examination. The decision was made in light of the COVID-19 spread in the country. The academic council has however decided to conduct a benchmarking test for the students once the classes resume.
Jharkhand Academic Council decides to promote class 5 to 7 students
While speaking to the media, the Principal Secretary of School Education and Literature Department AP Singh said that with the current situation, the board has decided to prompt the students from classes 5 to 7 without conducting an exam. However, he further added that the board will conduct benchmarking tests for the students once the classes commence for the students. The exams were scheduled to be conducted on March 31, 2020.
Along with the decision to promote the students from class 5 to 7, the board has also postponed the declaration of class 8 and 9 exam results until further notice. The results were scheduled to be released this month.
Earlier, the class 10 and 12 board examinations across the different state boards along with the CBSE and ICSE class 10 and 12 examinations were also postponed by the board due to the Coronavirus spread in the country. Along with the board examinations, several other national level entrance examination dates along with the application dates have also been postponed.
The Government has announced a 21-day lockdown across the country. Although the shutdown of the schools was until March 31, 2020, the 21-day lockdown announced on March 24, 2020, will further push the reopening date for the schools.
