Kamala Harris the Indian-American creates History wins US Senate seat

On Wednesday, Kamala Harris who is the Attorney General of  California, won the US Senate seat from the seat. She wrote the history by becoming the first Indian-American to become US Senate.

Kamala Harris, 51, defeated fellow Democrat Loretta Sanchez. Kamala is also the sixth black individual to be elected to the US Senate after Barack Obama. Harris is the first black woman who was elected to the upper house in more than two decades.

The father of Kamala Harris – Donald grew up in Jamaica. Donald became a national scholar and earned the opportunity to study economics. The mother of Kamala Harris – Shyamala Gopalan went to US from Chennai to study science, specifically complex mechanisms of cancer and endocrinology. Kamala Harris was born in Oakland, California.

Kamala Harris is two time Attorney General of California and defeated L Sancez from her own party. Barbara Boxer would be replaced by her. After serving moe than two decades in the senate, Boxer announced her retirement in the 2014.
