Meanwhile, JD(S) stands far behind at third place with a mere 373 seats.

In all, 8,340 candidates, including 2,306 from the Congress, 2,203 from the BJP and 1,397 from the JD(S) are in the fray for the ULBs, while 814 contested from the city corporations, including 135 from Congress, 130 from BJP and 129 from JD(S).

Congress wins Ballari constituency with 20 seats.

The BJP only managed to win eight seats in Kuditini and Kottur respectively.  A total of three independents also won from Kottur.

Also, the reports are coming that the BJP is leading in 20 wards in Shivamogga. It also happens to former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa’s home ground, who had earlier declared that the saffron party would win at least 50-60 percent of the seats. However, it is leading in 35 percent of the seats so far.
