Kejriwal & his accomplices washed utensils and perform ‘sewa’ at Golden Temple

AMRITSAR: On Monday, The chief minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal washed the utensils at a community kitchen in the Golden Temple. He and other Aam Aadmi Party leaders performed ‘sewa’ (voluntary religious service) inside the Golden Temple complex.

CM Arvind kejriwal with his senior party leaders, including Ashish Khetan, Gul Panag, Actor Sandhu Singh, lawyer HS Phoolka, AAP MPs Bhagwant Mann and Gurpreet Ghuggi and others arrived at the Golden Temple complex, where the holiest of Sikh shrines ‘Harmandar Sahib’ is situated.

This move shows that Kejriwal wants to seek forgiveness for AAP’s political gaffe after the AAP’s Youth Manifesto of Punjab carried a picture of Harmander Sahab along with the AAP election symbol ‘broom’.

Kejriwal told media after the sewa at the shrine that when we released the ‘Youth Manifesto’ of the party for Punjab, we had committed some mistakes unintentionally. We have done sewa at Darbar Sahib to seek forgiveness. Kejriwal remained inside the shrine complex for nearly one hour.

kejriwal covered his head with a white handkerchief and Kejriwal went around the shrine complex with folded hands. He also offered prayers and later washed utensils at the ‘Langar’ hall. the community kitchen of the Sikh shrine serves food to over one lakh people in a single day.

Within the 15 days, this was the second visit of Kejriwal to the Sikh shrine. On 3rd July, Kejriwal had begun his three-day Punjab tour by offering prayers at the Sikh shrine. It was immediately after his visit that Kejriwal released the party’s controversial ‘Youth manifesto’.

Punjab Police had arrested AAP leader Ashish Khetan on charge of hurting religious sentiments of the Sikhs by equating the manifesto with Guru Granth Sahib, the Bible and the Gita. Akali Dal, Opposition Congress and the SGPC rejected the  request of apologies by Khetan and the AAP over both controversies.

The Punjab chief minister Prakash Singh Badal and deputy chief minister and his son Sukhbir Singh Badal accused the Aam Aadmi Party’s Leaders for hurting the religious sentiments of the Sikhs through their actions.

Punjab chief minister said that this was the heinous act of displaying a picture of the Golden temple on the cover of the AAP ‘Youth manifesto’ along with the party election symbol broom was “blasphemy”.

The president of Akali Dal Sukhbir Badal said that the AAP and its leadership was a bunch of outsiders who don’t have any kind of knowledge of the culture and traditions of Punjab.

Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh had questioned Kejriwal for seeking forgiveness 15 days after committing the mistake.
