Kevin Pieterson, the ambassador of Betway, took a fresh take on the upcoming test against India. He gave his honest opinions on what he thinks about the current Indian team line-up and how they can mean a bigger threat to England cricket team than the current New Zealand team.
He begins by saying that he has always been surprised at how New Zealand was once World Test Champions. He later clarifies himself by saying that he does not mean any kind of disrespect to the team.
The New Zealand Team must have been doing something great to bring the best out of each other, but he just thinks that the present New Zealand players lack the star quality, the exceptions being Kane Williamson and Trent Boult.
Reflecting further into the team, he states that although Daryl Mitchell has been in excellent form, he needs to maintain that to get into the “upper echelons of world batters”. Going a bit further with his bold remarks, he says that he neither considers Tim Southee to be a very good fast bowler (as he is claimed to be) nor does he finds Michael Bracewell a good enough spinner. He finds them average performers only.
Therefore, he further expresses his notion that India, which according to him “are packed full of best players on the planet”, would prove to be a much tougher competition against England in the upcoming tests.
Both the teams have come very far since their last clash. Both the teams have new Captains and both are helmed by new Coaches. Both the teams have recently lost their vice-captains (Ajinkya Rahane for India, Jos Butler for England).
Pieterson says in the blog post that even if England batsmen unleash their full fury, it would not concern the Indian bowlers much.
Kevin acknowledged the great bowling of England against New Zealand.
But at the same time, he says that the excellent line-up of the Indian team consisting of heavy-hitters like Rohit Sharma, Che Pujara, Virat Kohli, and others would be a “different kettle of fish”.
Pieterson states that he will be commentating on the match of India against England for Sky and he really can not shake off his excitement for it. In Birmingham, where the match will be played, India and England have always been supported equally.
Pieterson finally states that as has been evident from the last few weeks, watching these two giants clash would really be spectacular.
