Latest News! ED seizes Rs 2.19 crore cash in Chandigarh

From the last two weeks, the Enforcement Directorate has tightened up their seat belts to catch the people with the illegal and black money. They have seized an amount of black money both in old notes and new notes in numbers of cities, and now, it’s the turn for Chandigarh.The latest news is coming out that the Enforcement Directorate has seized massive amount of Rs 2.19 crore from here as part of its operation to check hawala trade. The officials of ED revealed that the sleuths of the agency swooped down on the premises of the cloth trader and few other locations here and they disclosed that Rs. Rs 18 lakh has been recovered in new notes. On the other side, the Punjab Police revealed that around Rs 69.35 lakh had been recovered in the new currency.

Meanwhile, it is believed the search is going on and one can say except that more of the currency will come on and the action has been taken on the whole issue under the provisions of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).

In a recent interaction with the media wing, Chandigarh DSP Ram Gopal revealed that ” a team led by ED’s Deputy Director Gurnam Singh conducted a raid and seized Rs 1.50 crore in demonetised currency and Rs 69.35 lakh in the new currency.”

He further added that the raid was carried out the house of one man named “Inderpal Mahajan and the FIR has been lodged against him and soon and the investigating are going around.”

Meanwhile, in last few days the Department of ED has seized for the fifth time in vivid parts of the countries and it looks like the government is looking in no mood to tolerate corruption and black money.
