NEW DELHI: Lt Governor of Delhi Najeeb Jung has ordered Deputy chief minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia to cut short his trip to Finland and return to Delhi in view of the outbreak of vector borne disease – chikungunya in the national capital.
An Official source said that chief secretary Kewal Sharma had been asked to send an email and contact Sisodia’s hotel in Finland.
Deputy CM Manish Sisodia left for Finland on the night of 12th September 2016 to attend a conference on education. Sisodia was scheduled to return on 17th September 2016. This is perhaps the first instance of a minister being asked by a Raj Bhavan to cut short an official trip abroad to deal with an epidemic.
Later on Friday , Sisodia had tweeted that he was in Finland for an educational tour and it was wrong to target him. Yesterday, some photographs of Sisodia having ice cream clicked in Finland surfaced in Delhi on social media, drawing sharp reactions from the opposition parties.
