A disgraceful act took place in Maharashtra’s Government Women’s Hostel near the Jalgaon district, where a girl was pressured by the hostel administrator to undress herself and dance in front of everybody. What was more disappointing was that in this bashful act, even the police authorities were also involved. Police who are known for protecting civilians and women was also involved in this matter, which was really shameful. Once again we need to ask whether women are safe and secure anywhere. And the political leaders who make various promises before the election regarding women safety are just blabbering or do they really have any good intention. This incident took place one year ago, on 1st March 2020 in the Jalgaon district’s Women Hostel and so far, no complaint was filed by the victim girl.
It is really disgusting to know that not only the locals were involved in this disgraceful act but also, hostel administrators and police executives were also involved. It is obvious that the police who are recruited for the protection of people did this shameful act. This incident came into notice in the year 2021 when a local NGO brought this case to higher authorities and later, BJP politician Shweta Mahala who is the MLA from the Chikhali constituency also raised the issue in the Maharashtra assembly.
In a Q&A session in the assembly of Maharashtra, Shweta brought this topic in front of the respected Home minister. She interprets the whole incident in the assembly. As per the sources, the incident happened in a ladies hostel that comes under the state government. The hostel name is reported to be Ashadip. In the name of inquiry, a couple of police executives entered the hostel premises and said that they are here for an inquiry, as they are informed that some illegal activity is taking place inside the Ashadip ladies hostel and the victim was asked by the police authorities to undress.
Apparently, the whole incident was recorded shamelessly on the phone and that video went viral. After the incident came to notice in the Maharashtra assembly, the Home Minister assured that a committee will be formed regarding the above matter and a report shall be submitted by them to the government within two days. However, we should be concerned that such a thing happened, which raises a big question that are women safe in our country. Laws regarding women’s safety need some major amendments and strict action should be taken against such crimes. Follow our page, for the latest updates regarding the same.
