As per the police statement, at least 13 people were killed and 23 got injured when a truck collided with a state-run bus in Dhule of Maharashtra late on Sunday. At around 10:30 pm on Sunday, the accident took place in Nimgul village of Dhule, as the bus was heading towards Shahada.
While the details of the accident are yet to be ascertained, photos from the site show that the Aurangabad-bound bus was heavily worn out from the front and the sides after the collision.
According to reports, the bus was carrying 45 passengers. Some of the passengers were saved by the prompt action of the locals who rushed to the spot and pulled the distressed passengers out of the vehicle. Authorities soon reached the site of the accident and took the injured to a nearby hospital.
The senior police inspector Hemant Patil of Dondaicha police station of Dhule said, “The truck driver lost control over the wheel. The truck came speeding towards the bus and ran through almost the entire length of the bus. Eleven people including both drivers, two women, and two children were killed on the spot and 25 were injured.”
He further added, “However, out of the 25 injured, two died in Dhule. The deceased were taken to Dondaicha primary health centre for post-mortem and the injured were rushed to Dhule. The injured are undergoing treatment at two local government hospitals where the condition of three of them was said to be serious”
He also informed that a case has been registered at Dondaicha police station of Shirpur division of Dhule police.
He further added that the kin of the deceased were informed and the process was on, to hand over the bodies after the post-mortem to their families.
