The inaugural flight of India’s indigenous basic trainer aircraft, Hindustan Turbo Trainer-40(HTT-40), undertook on Friday and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar witnessed it.

HTT-40 Aircraft is totally made in India and HTT-40 is made by the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited(HAL) company.
Defence Minister of India Manohar Parrikar also got a feel of the aircraft, by getting into its cockpit after the test flight.
HTT-40 aircraft is aimed at being used for the first stage training for all flying cadets of the three services.
HTT-40 is loaded with advanced technology like zero-zero ejection seats and multi-functional system. HTT-40 can be adapted as a light attack aircraft.
The role of HTT-40 also includes basic flying training, aerobatics, instrument flying, navigation, night flying, close formation etc. It is claimed by HAL, the maker of HTT-40 aircraft.
The weight of HTT-40 aircraft is about 2800 kg and it has Turbo Prop Engine of 950 shp class.
Indian Air Force already give the order of 70 HAL’s HTT-40 Aircraft.
HAL’s HTT-40 has 80 per cent indigenous content with more than 40 Indian MSME vendors. HTT-40 is the best example of Make in India programme.
HTT-40 aircraft is small plane and it is painted in bright yellow color. It was in the skies for about 15 minutes over the old HAL’s airport in Bengaluru.
The Defence Minister of India Manohar Parrikar congratulated the design of the HAL for making the aircraft in the promised time.
HAL took up the project in the year 2013 with a finance of Rs.350 crore. An additional Rs. 200 crore will be needed to build prototype.
