Microsoft introduced the ‘Your Phone’ feature for Windows 10 at the Developer Conference in 2018. The new ‘Your Phone’ feature in Windows 10 enables instant access to text messages, photos, and notifications. Now, Microsoft is said to be working on adding a new feature to ‘Your Phone’ which displays Android notifications on Windows 10 PCs.
A new Insider Preview Build for Windows 10 reveals that Microsoft is indeed testing a feature as a part of ‘Your Phone’ that will display Android alerts on Windows 10 PCs.
According to an Engadget report on Sunday, “If you allow apps to display alerts on PCs, you can find out about an important message or status update without reaching for your handset”.
The new preview build allows insiders to see incoming phone notifications in real-time that customises notifications with an ability to clear notification individually or all at once.
The company wrote in a blog post, “Boost your focus and productivity by seeing your phone’s notifications on your PC. You are in control and manage which apps you want to receive notifications from. Dismiss a notification on one device and it goes away on the other”.
Also, the preview build suggests that users can’t respond to notifications at least for now. Engadget further added, “You can’t respond to notifications (at least not yet), but this could be particularly vital for Snapchat and other apps that don’t really have a presence on the desktop”.
Microsoft is rolling out the feature gradually to Windows Insiders using the 1803 (RS4) build.
To test this feature, users will be required to have a device running on Android 7.0 Nougat, with at least 1GB RAM.
This new feature is being tested as part of Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 18885 (20H1).
