Mother Dairy on Friday hiked the prices of milk by up to Rs 2 per litre effective from Saturday as it is going to pay more to the farmers in order to get milk from the farmers due to rising cost of fodder. The foremost milk supplier in the national capital region has raised the prices for the first time in more than two years. The rise in prices also comes days after Amul increased milk prices by Rs 2 per litre.
Customers must take note that Mother Dairy has only increased the prices of the milk which comes in poly pack. While on the other hand, the prices of bulk vended milk which is also known as token milk, have not yet been hiked.
“The 1 litre pack has been increased by Re 1 only and the 500 ml pack by Rs 2 a litre, effectively impacting the consumer by Re 1 per pack,” it said in a statement.
The company is a supplier more than 30 lakh litres of milk per day in Delhi-NCR (National Capital Region). Earlier in the year 2017, the company had increased the price in the month of March, after that this is another time when the prices have been increased.
“The milk procurement prices have been continuously on the rise for the last 3-4 months due to increase in feed and fodder cost by 15-20 per cent and labour cost etc. However, while paying higher prices to producers by 7-8 per cent compared to the last year, the consumer prices were kept intact,” it further said.
The main reason behind the increase in milk prices is the increase in the cost of fodder. By increasing the price of milk rates, Mother Dairy is continuing to support the dairy farmers with remunerative prices. It permits near to 80 per cent of the sales realisation to the farmers.
As per to the new rate, full cream milk is now going to cost Rs 53 per litre from Rs 52 now, while on the other hand, half a litre is going to have a MRP of Rs 27 from Rs 26 previously.
Full cream (Premium) milk is going to be sold at Rs 55 per litre as well as half litre at Rs 28.
The rate of toned milk has also been increased from Rs 41 to Rs 42 per litre. Half litre pouch will now cost Rs 22 from Rs 21 earlier.
Double Toned Milk (Live Lite) is going to be sold at Rs 36 per litre from tomorrow onwards from Rs 34 price earlier. For 500 ml pouch, the rate has been revised to Rs 19 from Rs 18.
The price of 500 ml skimmed milk (Dietz) has also been increased from Rs 20 to Rs 21 per litre.
While talking about the cow milk, then there has been no rise in rate for one litre poly pack but at the same time, the half litre pack is going to be pricier by Rs 1 at Rs 22.
