Continuing the trend of folding smartphone, after Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Flip last month, Motorola is finally set to launch its first foldable smartphone in India called the Motorola Razr 2019 in India through an online launch today. The Lenovo-owned company has been teasing the Motorola Razr 2019 launch India for a while now. The Motorola Razr 2019, which is the resurrected foldable version of the iconic Motorola Razr, has been launched in the US back in November 2019.
Motorola Razr Launch Today
Since the Coronavirus outbreak has reached India and thus in view of the safety of the people, Motorola will be hosting an online event to unveil the Motorola Razr 2019 in India. The Motorola Razr 2019 online event will begin at 12:30pm IST and can be live-streamed via the company’s official YouTube channel. Additionally, the event can be viewed online live via Motorola India’s Facebook page as well.
The Motorola Razr 2019 is the company’s first foldable smartphone and brings forth nostalgia of the Motorola Razr flip phone. The smartphone comes with dual displays: a 6.2-inch OLED main display with an aspect ratio of 21:9 and a secondary 2.7-inch OLED outer display, visible when the device is folded. It is also a Quick View display on the cover that can be used to capture selfies, view notifications, and control music playback.
The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor, coupled with 6GB of RAM. It comes equipped with 128GB of internal storage. The smartphone is backed by a 2,510mAh battery with 15W fast charging and runs Android 9.0 Pie out-of-the-box. Additionally, there is a front-facing capacitive fingerprint scanner.
On the camera front, there are two cameras. there is a 5-megapixel camera on top of the main display notch and can be accessed when the device is unfolded. The other camera is placed on the outside (next to the secondary screen) and stands at 16MP with an f/1.7 aperture that doubles as a selfie when the phone is in folded state.
The Motorola Razr measures 72x172x6.9mm in the unfolded state and 72x94x14mm in the folded. Besides, the handset weighs just 205 grams. Connectivity options include 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C.
As far as the price is concerned, there is no word on its pricing details yet. Meanwhile, it is likely to be close to what the company announced in the US earlier this year that was $1,500 (roughly Rs. 1,11,000). However, it could be priced below the recent Samsung Galaxy Z Flip (Rs. 1,09,999) to compete against it. Also, the Motorola Razr 2019 will be up for sale via the online portal Flipkart.
