Mumbai Conclave 2019: Day 1
The Conclave took off a new height when Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa graced the occasion and spoke about the changing role of the Indian Air Force.
After a fascinating session on the state of the Indian economy with RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das where he provided us with his reaction to the corporate tax rebates announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, the discussion further moved on to a panel of economists including Shamika Ravi (member of PM’s economic advisory council), Roopa Purushothaman (chief economist at Tata Sons Ltd) and Ritu Dewan (VP, Indian Society of Labour Economics).
The RBI governor said that the GDP growth for the first quarter of the financial year 2019-20 dropped to five percent, a sharp decline of 0.8 percent points compared to the last quarter that ended in March.
