Drifting is a kind of driving technique in which the driver intentionally takes sharp turns while at the same time tries to maintain control and drive the car through the corners. This technique of driving emerged from New Zealand in the year 2003 and at that time, the technique was in the initial stage of its progress globally. Later the various drifting teams came forward and organized the various famous National Drifting Championship. The popularity of this series is huge all over the world and it would be an understatement if we say that over 1 million viewers come from worldwide in order to witness this championship. The top drifting teams of New Zealand compete with the other team across the world including teams from Japan, Australia, China, Japan and Singapore, and others. The Round 1 of the championship took place in Aukland at Mt Smart Stadium.

The Second Round took place at the Feilding at the Manfield Circuit Chris Amn while round 4 was held on the Christchurch at the Mike Pero Motorsport Park and went from 26 to 27 March 2021. On 16th April 2021, Round 5 was held and took place at the Pukekohe Park Raceway in Aukland. Round 6 was held at the Trustpower Baypark in Tauranga and finally, the championship is coming to an end as the grand final of the series is all set to take place on 1st May 2021.

Today’s grand finale is going to be lit as the top 32 teams will compete against each other while the series contains two national titles this time.  The first title is the D1NZ Pro Championship whereas the second title is the D1NZ Pro-Sports series. The teams who have participated in this championship for the first time will compete for the title of DINZ Pro Championship.

The drifting teams that have an international license or equivalent to that will compete for the title of the D1NZ Pro-Sports series. This championship is different from the Japanese D1 Grand Prix series, which is considered as one of the lengthiest running drifting series globally.
