On the other hand, the second story states the origin of the high-five at a University of Louisville Cardinals basketball practice in the year 1978. Wiley Brown was going to give his co-player Derek Smith a low-five but the two thought out to give each other a high-five in its place. Soon after that, the team initiated giving each other high-fives after every celebration.
