You all should know that the National Poetry Month is a celebration of poetry and it takes place in the month of April. You all should know that this month was introduced in 1996 and it is organized by the Academy of American Poets. It was started to increase awareness in the poetry in the United States. You all should know that the Academy of American Poets’ website Poets.org serves as a hub for information about local poetry events during the month. National Poetry Month Customs & Traditions

The purpose of National Poetry Month hinges on 6 key areas: 1) to highlight the achievements and legacy of American poets, 2) to encourage poetry reading, 3) to help teachers introduce poetry into the classroom, 4) to increase media coverage of poetry and poets, 5) increase publication of poetry books and 6) to increase support for poetry and the poets who produce it.

You all should know that the February is also known as Women’s History Month which is held in March. In 1995, the Academy of American Poets convened a group of publishers, booksellers, librarians, literary organizations, poets, and teachers to discuss the need and usefulness of a similar monthlong holiday to celebrate poetry. This month is a special month for everyone and we are more than sure that you all are going to love it for sure.
