On Saturday, the local police said that demonetised notes of Rs 1,000 were found flowing in the holy Ganga river at Nayaghat area, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
As per the reports from the locals that after spotting the demonetised notes of Rs 1000 flowing in the river, the boatmen got into a fight after which police was informed.
Superintendent of Police – Kalanidhi Naithani said that the 19 note of demonetised Rs 1,000 in the torn condition have been recovered from the holy Ganga river.
SP Naithani said that the authenticity of the notes will be known only after further investigations.
Everyone shocked and surprised after PM Modi demonetised the notes of higher denomination in the markets on 8th November 2016. Those people who has the stockpile of black money, are in panic after the announcement of demonetisation of notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000.
In another news, some people in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, burnt the notes of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 in a huge amount on the next day.
It is a surgical strike on the black money by the NDA Government.
