On Thursday, Ola Electric made an official announcement on lunching its electric scooter this year in upcoming months. As per to Ola Electric, they will be bringing their electric scooter in July to the Indian market. Along with this, the company is also working on setting up a ‘Hypercharger Network’ in order to take in one lakh charging points all around 400 cities. The company is also planning to export the same to other foreign markets worldwide.

Previous year, Ola had made another announcement of setting up its first ever electric scooter factory in Tamil Nadu for which they will be making a ₹2,400 crore investment. Once the factory is completed, it is going to create about 10,000 job opportunities and will turn into the largest scooter manufacturing facility across the world that is initially going to have a capacity of 2 million units annually.

The charging network of Ola’s electric scooter is going to be capable of charging 50 per cent of its battery within 18 minutes for distance range of 75 km. As of now, the company has not disclosed any details about the pricing of their upcoming e-scooter in Indian market. However, they have said that the scooters are going to be priced “aggressively” in order to make them reasonably priced to Indian customers.

The Chairman and Group CEO Bhavish Aggarwalof Ola Electric said that their factory will be set up by June having the capacity of manufacturing 2 million units which will also increase after the next 12 months. He added his statement and said once the factory is set up the sale is also going to begin at the same time, so when the factory gets completed in the month of June, “sale starts in July.”

As of now, Ola is setting up more than 5,000 charging points all around 100 cities in India in the first year. The Ola e-scooter is also going to include a home charger for which you don’t have to make any prior installation set-up. It is going to allow its customers to charge their vehicle without putting any much effort at their home. For charging, all you have to do is to plug into a regular socket and your e-scoter will charge automatically.

Meanwhile, the electric scooter launch is in aligned with the global vision of the company for moving the mobility into a more sustainable, easily reached and advanced connected future. As the company has not disclosed the pricing details of their e-scooter, the Indian customers have to wait for their official announcement on the same.
