Once again, Petrol along with the diesel prices were hiked on Thursday after days of no change. In addition to that, the price of petrol was also increased by 5-6 paise as well as that of diesel by 10-11 paise across major cities of the nation on Thursday.

Presently, domestic petrol and diesel prices are reviewed by oil marketing companies like state-run Indian Oil Corporation on an everyday basis. Any revisions are applied at the fuel stations with effect from 6 am.
Oil marketing companies like state-run Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has moved to the present system of daily revisions from fortnightly changes in the year 2017 in order to reflect any changes in worldwide rates more rapidly.
Formerly, the companies applied any changes in fuel prices at fuel stations the 1st and 16th days of each month.
Coming to the National Capital, Delhi, the petrol prices raised to Rs 74.68 a litre as against Rs 74.63 a litre on Wednesday while diesel price on the other hand rose to Rs 67.09 a litre as compared to Rs 66.99 a litre.
Talking about Mumbai, the petrol is selling at Rs 80.34 a litre, in Chennai at Rs 77.64 a litre as well as in Kolkata at Rs 77.34 a litre, according to the data from Indian Oil Corporation website.
As far as Diesel is concerned, the prices of diesel in Mumbai costs Rs 70.39 per litre, in Chennai Rs 70.93 a litre and in Kolkata Rs 69.50 a litre. Domestic petrol as well as diesel prices are reviewed by oil marketing companies on a daily basis.
