Zoya Agarwal is the living example of this sentence, as at a very young age she became a pilot in Air India and in the year 2013, became the youngest Indian woman pilot to operate the Boeing 777. However, recently, on 9th January 2021, Zoya made history by becoming the first woman to operate the AI176 flight and covered the largest aerial distance between San Francisco and Bengaluru.

Zoya was born in a middle-class family and since childhood, she wanted to become a pilot. In an interview, she stated, that when she was 8 years old, she used to look up at the sky and see the aeroplanes. At the first sight of it, a thought came across her mind, that will she be able to ever operate a plane or not. However, you must have heard this statement, that we need dreams, however, more than that we need doers.

Zoya did not only dream but also made that dream come into reality. We all aware of the fact that middle-class people face a lot of constraints especially financial constraints, which eventually restricts their ambition. This was also the case with Zoya, as at first, she was a little reluctant to share her dream with her parents. Just as she thought, the response from her parents was not very encouraging, but Zoya was determined to pursue her dream.

She took science stream in 11th and 12th and also topped the board exams in her school, and later she took physics as the main subject in graduation and at the same time, applied for a piloting course. She managed everything on her own and also bore all the fees of the piloting course. Zoya was an extremely considerate girl and managed to keep a balance between her studies and her course.

After excelling in her college, Zoya went to her father for his consent to proceed to her dream. Although the fees of the course were high, seeing the dedication and determination of his daughter, the father of Zoya agreed and gave his consent and took a loan for the course. Yet she waited for another 2 years and finally got a job in Air India. At that time, Air India, released 7 vacancies for the pilot and a total of 3000 applicants took part in it.

However, four days prior to the examination, the father of Zoya had a critical heart attack and at that time, she did not want to leave her father. Her father, however, encouraged her and told her to go to Mumbai and give the exam. Zoya agreed reluctantly, but she was also focused as she knew that this was her only chance and she can not let herself and her family members down.

She took the exam and cleared all the rounds and finally got her dream job in Air India as a pilot. In the year 2004, she operated her first flight to Dubai and from there on, there was no turning back. During the Wuhan Virus Pandemic, the Indian Government commenced the Vande Bharat Mission operation. The purpose of the mission was to bring up 14,800 Indian who are stuck in 12 different countries through 64 flights of Air India. In that mission, Zoya played an important role.
