RV Samudra Ratnakar – Oceanographic research vessel deployed for locating or searching of missing IAF aircraft AN-32. The RV Samudra Ratnakar has found some debris over a 4,500 square kilometre area underwater. But, there is no clarity on whether the debris pieces found belong to the missing AN-32 aircraft.
According to the report of The Hindu that The RV Samudra Ratnakar ship belongs to the Geological Survey of India. It has found linear pieces in 14 places in the search region.
The report said that the parts have not yet been carried on to the search vessel. The pieces are at a depth of 3 km underwater which makes it possible that they could be the volcanic activity, plate movement or rocks.
The report stated that strong winds of 20-25 km/hr make the task of verification more difficult.
