Rahul Gandhi claimed that Modi received Rs 40 crore from Sahara group at the time of Gujarat CM

On Tuesday, Vice President of Congress Rahul Gandhi claimed that Modi received at least Rs 40 crore from the Sahara group during his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister.

Rahul claimed that Modi received the money in instalments from the Sahara Group. He further said that the records are with IT dept for last 2 and half years, yet no action has been taken. An independent enquiry must be initiated.

Rahul Gandhi claimed that as per record with IT, Rs 2.5 crore was given to PM Modi on 30th October 2013; Rs 5 crore on 12 Nov 2013; Rs 2.5 crore on 27 Nov 2013; Rs 5crore on 29 Nov 2013; Entries showed Rs 5 crore given to PM Modi on 6 Dec 2013; Rs 5 crore on 19 Dec 2013; Rs 5crore on 13 Jan 2014; Rs 5crore on 28 Jan 2014; Rs 5 crore 22 Feb 2014.

Over the demonetisation, Rahul renewed his attack on the Modi-led government. He also said that the demonetisation was not in favour of the poor.

At the rally, Rahul Gandhi said that Demonetisation was not made against corruption or black money, it was against the honest poor people..

He said the Congress would have supported the BJP government if they had taken genuine steps to tackle corruption.

He said that if Modi ji’s government takes any big or small step to eradicate corruption, Congress party will support them.

Rahul said that BJP government is snatching the lands of tribals in Chattisgarh, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh. They are beating up Dalits in Gujarat.

On Tuesday, Congress leader had likened the repeated changes in the rules to Modi’s changing of clothes. He had said that the message going out was that the Prime Minister’s words were “hollow.

Earlier on 8th November 2016, the Prime Minister announced the demonetisation and had said that old Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes could be deposited in banks till 30th December 2016.
