Raspberry Pi 3 launched at $35 adds wi-fi and Bluetooth LE, 64-bit chip

Raspberry Pi which has manufactured a low cost tiny sized computer is back with their latest offering. They are introducing Raspberry Pi 3 which is the third version of their Popular Raspberry Pi flagship. It is priced at the meager amount of just $35, if one look at the worth of this computer then price is same as that of Raspberry Pi 2 mini which launched last year. It resembles in looks with its successor Raspberry Pi 2 and even many of the features remain same but Raspberry Pi 3 adds the much awaited features i.e Bluetooth and integrated Wifi connectivity.

Hitherto company has successfully shipped total of 8 millions Raspberry Pi units and out of this, it has shipped 3millions units of Raspberry Pi 2. Even the Company also found touting that their second installment i.e Raspberry Pi 2 is considered as the UK’s best selling computer of all the time. On a blogspot, Eben Upton who is the owner of the Raspberry Pi announced that their latest proffering is the tribute to their “fourth birthday”.

Raspberry Pi 3 will be available to its users from today i.e Monday (29th Feb) from element 14 and RS components. Company also said that they will be using the same 32-bit Raspbian userland which they have successfully used in their previous versions. After the investigation company will ponder upon moving to 64 bit mode.

Company also claims that their latest version delivers 10 times better performance or 50-60% increase in comparison to their previous models. Place for status LED is replaced by the chip antenna and the status LED has now moved to the right next to the slot of Micro SD card.

Talking about rest of its specifications then it runs on 1.2GHz quad core ARM cortex A-53 processor which is based on Broadcom BCM2387 chipset. To have augmented graphics it also incorporates Dual core videocore IV GPU.

As we have mentioned above, it entails both Wifi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth V4.1. Processor is coupled along with 1GB LPDDR2 RAM and it also boards expandable MicroSD card slot. It operates on Linux or windows 10 IoT and the Os can be boot through Micro SD slot.
