New Delhi: On Thursday, Shaktikanta Das, Economic Affairs Secretary, announced that a new note of Rs 1000 will be released in the coming months. He added that new color combination and new design Rs 1000 notes will be released in a few months.

Economic Affairs Secretary – Das said that all denomination of notes will be reintroduced with new design and new features. New series of notes with new features and designs will be infused in the market from time to time. Das also clarified that status of existing Rs 100, Rs 50 and other denomination notes will continue to be legal tender.

New Rs 500 note:
The new note of Rs 500 have extra security features besides having theme, peculiar colour, and size which differentiate the new bills from the earlier series. The Rs 500 banknotes will be stone grey in colour with a predominant new theme of the Indian heritage site Red Fort.

New Rs 2000 note:
The Rs 2,000 notes are being introduced for the first time. The note of Rs. 2000 will be of magenta colour with Mangalayan imprinted on the reverse side. The higher value currency notes will have geometric patterns aligning with the overall colour scheme both on the obverse and reverse.
