Indian tennis champ and one of the best double player, Leander Paes will be seen in an Olympic event once again and for a record seventh time. One of the most “equipped” athletes of his era, the 43-year-old, Paes, took to social media account of twitter to share one of his splendid moments during his profession. The post combined flashes from his Olympic stint following in 1996. Paes addressed, “As I gear up for Rio, remembering one of the proudest moments of my career from 20 years ago today.”
With just two days left to go for this year’s Rio Olympics, some sources have learned that tennis pro Rohan Bopanna, who is to team up with Leander in the men’s doubles game, is forced to practice with another as Leander has yet to land in Rio de Janeiro.
Paes, according to reports, has told the Indian Olympic Association that he doesn’t want to share the platform with Bopanna at the Olympic Center. The two don’t share any fellowship, particularly since Bopanna declared Saketh Myneni as his doubles ally before the All Indian Tennis Association (AITA) directed in favor of Leander.
It must be seen that Sania Mirza too overlooked Paes, who will play his seventh Olympics, as her mixed doubles comrade and chose Bopanna instead.
Else than Paes, the whole Indian contingent landed in Rio on August 1 to begin their practices for the Olympics opening on Thursday.
When talked, Leander’s dad Vece Paes, a past Olympic medal champion himself in hockey, came out in his son’s security. “Leander is on the way to Rio and is joining by this evening,”.
The senior Paes also added that Junior Paes is only late by half a day, in order with what was chosen by the squad during last month’s Davis Cup draw in Chandigarh.
