Romanian arrested in Mumbai for stealing cash from Kerala ATM

Today, the police said that a Romanian national with his two pal who is suspected to be involved in the hi-tech ATM robbery in kerala has been arrested in Mumbai.

The police released the picture of the accused. In Tuesday late night, The accused was taken into custody by the Mumbai Police.

A senior police officer said that the accused has been taken into custody in Mumbai in connection with the hi-tech ATM robbery. The police of Kerala has left to Mumbai to take him into custody.

He told PTI that the Mumbai Police will first produce him before a court in Mumbai and only then we will get him in custody. However, he did not reveal any further details.

On Tuesday, Kerala Police zeroed in on three Romania nationals, who are suspected of the hi-tech ATM robbery and decided to seek the help of Interpol.

The trio had been caught in the CCTV installed in the ATM Kiosk, while they were installing an electronic device inside an ATM kiosk of a public sector bank at Vellayambalam.

According to police sources that the three foreign nationals are the native of Romania. They had come to India on 25th June 2016 and reached Kerala on 8th July 2016. The Romania nationals had come on tourist visas in India.

Police also seized two scooters and three helmets from hotel, suspected to have been used by the trio.

The police said that the state police shared their photos and other available information with other states which led to the arrest of one among them.

The police said that more than 20 people had lodged complaints and said that money was withdrawn from their account. according to the preliminary assessment, about Rs 2.5 lakh had been lost.
