Samuel L. Jackson has signed on to join the cast of a remake of the 1958 sci-fi/horror classic The Blob. The original film, which starred Steve McQueen, spawned a 1972 sequel and a 1998 remake. Goldcrest Films, which is representing global sales and distribution, launched the film to distributors at the European Film Market in Berlin in February and already has secured deals in Germany, Italy, China, Latin America, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, India, Middle East and South Africa.
