SpaceX is reducing down 10 per cent of its workforce

The founder of space exploration company SpaceX, Elon Musk’s has declared that it is reducing down 10 per cent of its personnel comprising of nearly 6,000 staffs, just few days after magnificently setting out 10 Iridium communication satellite into the lower-Earth orbit. To put it simply, the enterprise is placing off nearly 600 employees.

For those who don’t know much about SpaceX, so, Space Exploration Technologies Corp., undertaking business as SpaceX. It is a private service provider company of American aerospace manufacturer and space transportation which headquarters are in Hawthorne, California. It was founded by entrepreneur Elon Musk in 2002 with the objective of decreasing space transportation expenses and facilitating the establishment of Mars. Since then, SpaceX has established the Falcon launch vehicle family as well as the Dragon spacecraft family, which both presently distribute payloads into Earth orbit.

As per the company’s statement to a news agency, states, “To continue delivering for our customers and to succeed in developing interplanetary spacecraft and a global space-based internet, SpaceX must become a leaner company,”

They further added “Either of these developments, even when attempted separately, have bankrupted other organizations. This means we must part ways with some talented and hardworking members of our team.”

While, this is not the first time that the company had made this kind of changes as the company has already lay off their staff members in previous years also. Last year, Elon Musk fired about seven senior managers from its office which is situated in Redmond, Washington following difference over the speed of the progress and analysing of its Starlink satellite program. Back in 2014, the company had also fired important number of workers, succeeding which two of the workers had filed a class action charges against the company appealing that the company had not delivered them a 60 day notice period as obligatory under the local regulation.

Although, the company had done these things before but this is the first time that the company has declared a major lay off and the number of employees who will lose their jobs are in hundreds nd this is very tough decision to take.

As per the internal letter by Gwynne Shotwell, who is the SpaceX President defined the change as a very challenging but essential decision. The space examination firm is giving eight weeks’ pay along with additional remunerations to all the laid-off personnel.

In the meantime, talking about the next projects of SpaceX, the fouder of SpaceX Elon Musk shared an image on twitter last week. The image was of the SpaceX Starship test flight rocket. He quoted in his tweet along with the picture, “Starship test flight rocket just finished assembly at the @SpaceX Texas launch site. This is an actual picture, not a rendering”.He also shared important details about SpaceX’s Starship rocket with the wholehearted tweets.

Another tweet from him on his twitter account, few days before stated, “Having delivered over 5,600 pounds of science and supplies, Dragon has completed its five-week stay at the @Space_Station and will depart at ~3:30 p.m. PST on Sunday. The Dragon used to support SpaceX’s 16th resupply mission previously delivered cargo to the ISS in 2017”.
