In two separate incidents of violence in Pakistan, a Shia father-son duo in Karachi was killed, while a spiritual leader of the Zikri community was gunned down in the restive Balochistan province.
A spritiual head of Zikri community – Syed Mullah Akhtar Mullai was shot dead yesterday in the Balgather Gadagi area, Kech district, Balochistan.
Local Police said that unidentified men who were on motor cycle, opened fire on Mullai while he was returning home after solemnising the marriage of one of his devotees.
The banned Balochistan Liberation Army(BLA) claimed responsibility for the attack.
The All Pakistan Muslim Zikri Anjuman condemned the killing of Mullai and said that on 20th September unidentified gunmen had set several houses and places of worship of the community on fire in the Panjgur area, Balochistan.
Human Rights organisations say that minority Zikri community remains the most persecuted in Balochistan by terrorists.
Earlier this week, unidentified gunmen opened fire on a bus in Quetta carrying Shia Hazara Muslims, killing four women and injured many others.
Late last night unidentified gunmen killed the trustee of a Imambargah and his son in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar area in Karachi, Pakistan.
Mansoor Zaidi and his son Ammar were gunned down by men on motorcycles and they died after succumbing to their injuries in the hospital.
They also opened fire in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of Karachi near a Shia Imambargah, injuring a few people.
The Sindh government announced a ban on pillion riding until further notice, soon after the incidents.
