A transgender from Bangladesh is going to become the first transgender news anchor of Bangladesh. On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Tashnuva Anan Shishir will start presenting regular news headlines for the first time. The anchor will be seen on Boishaki Television, which is a private Satellite television channel.
“Tashnuva has started her career on March 8, International Women’s Day at the news channel Boishakhi TV”, a statement released by the channel. Reputedly, the channel came into the limelight not only on the occasion of International Woman’s Day but also, celebrating its 50 years of Independence on March 26.
“It will be revolutionary and can create a new dimension in the people’s thinking,” said Tashnuva. Also, she has cleared the audition to take a job and took training for several weeks to get the job at Boishakhi TV.
During her interview, Tashnuva said,” The biggest problem is that people are not sensitized… I hope this can do that, and urge them to look after the many “Tashnuvas” around them”.
Who is Tashnuva Anan Shishir?
Tashnuva Anan Shishir is a model and a social worker as well. She is 29-years-old. She has taken a part in acts and acting for a very long time. She began her acting career in 2007 with the theatre troupe Natua. She has appeared many times in Notable productions and worked more than two years in troupe BotTola theatre. Currently, Tashnuva signed two Bangladeshi movies and she is playing a football coach in one of a movie. It can be heard that Thasnuva is a dancer and also a voice artist.
The report says that she got her scholarships or higher studies in Master of Public Health (MPH) from James P Grant School of Public Health (JPGSPH).
As a social worker, Tashnuva has worked in some organizations like Roopban, Bangladesh Youth Leadership Center (BYLC), and Oboyob. Also, she has worked in Bandhu Social Welfare Society as a project officer.
In an interview, Shishir said,” I was submerged. I cannot express how heavy it is for me and my community. The people of my community have been bullied and harassed for a long time, and only such performances can help create a place for the development of our people in society”.
Also, Tashnuva shared about her dream and said that she wants to make a team with some aspiring dancers, media personalities, and some famous actors, who belong to the transgender community. She just wants to raise awareness about the situation, which was faced by her.
