The Tata Motors has rolled out a brand new car in India. Unveiled in Jaiselmer in the evening last night, Altroz was first showcased as a concept called 45X at the 2018 Auto Expo, followed by a near-production version unveiled at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Based on Tata Motors’ IMPACT 2.0 design philosophy with a sleek and sporty outlook, Tata’s first offering to use its new ALFA (Agile, Light, Flexible and Advanced) platform, the Altroz will aim to compete with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Honda Jazz and Hyundai i20 in our market.

Altroz is based on Tata’s new ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) architecture and is expected to come with BS6 emission standard 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol and diesel engines. There is a 3-cylinder, 1.2-litre, Revotron petrol motor that makes 86 PS and 113 Nm of torque. Also available is a 4-cylinder, 1.5-litre, Turbocharged Revotorq diesel mill that delivers 90 PS and 200 Nm of torque. Tata would be offering a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, LED headlamps with DRLs, a semi-digital driver’s instrument cluster, and it is said to meet all the safety requirement as mandated by the regulations for India. Adding to the overall appeal of the premium hatchback are features like piano black ORVM, C-pillar mounted rear door handles, black contrasting roof and 16-inch laser cut alloy wheels.
It’ll come with a provision for dual-tone roof as well. Customers will also be able to customise their Altroz so they only have to pay for the features they specifically pick. The new Altroz comes in five colour options — High-Street Gold, Skyline Silver, Downtown Red, Midtown Grey and Avenue White. The Altroz is available in five variants — XE, XM, XT, XZ and XZ(O).

The features like ABS with EBD and CSC, reverse parking sensors, ISOFIX, driver and co-driver seatbelt reminder, high-speed alert system and impact sensing auto door unlock are standard. Reverse parking camera, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing front wipers and rear defogger are available with the higher variants.
The hatchback is expected to be priced at Rs 5.5 lakh to Rs 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom) and a launch is scheduled to take place in January 2020 in India.

Tata Motors has opened the bookings for the Altroz and the premium hatchback can be booked through the automaker’s official website for a token amount of Rs 21,000.
