On Tuesday afternoon, a luxury bus of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation caught fire in Alair, Telangana, threatening the lives of over 30 passengers.
As per the reports that the incident caused by a short circuit in the bus and occurred by the side of a road around 50 km from Hyderabad.
The driver had noticed a spark in the engine during the journey from Warangal to Hyderabad. He immediately stopped the bus by the side of a road in Alair and asked all passengers to deboard. The bus was totally destroyed in a matter of minutes.
But, the passengers were able to escape quickly and all passengers were safe.
P Mahender Reddy who is the Telangana Transport Minister ordered an inquiry into the incident and asked for a detailed report from transport officials.
This is not the first incident where a bus caught fire mid-journey. In last week, around 70 people from Uttar Pradesh survived an almost identical incident while travelling in a double-decker bus. They are mostly migrant workers.
The battery of the bus caught fire due to short-circuit when the bus was on its way to Bahraich. The driver immediately stopped the bus and asked everyone jump off from the bus.
