The proposed ban of Telangana government on officials and staff from using private email services like Gmail, Rediff, Yahoo etc for government correspondences is yet to take off even after six months.
In 2015, Central government had banned private email services and made it mandatory for all government officials and staff to use only state-owned services for official communication citing security reasons.
After the 6 months, all the government officials and staff in all departments of the state continue to use private email services for government correspondence. Ministers and senior officials in other departments do not have official email ID except IT minister K.T. Rama Rao and staff in his department.
Officials and staff in main departments like Finance, revenue, law, general administration who handle confidential and secret information continue to use private email services for communication.
The website of Telangana State reveals that most of the officials and staff in all the government departments continue to use private email services like Gmail, Rediff and Yahoo.
