Three famous faces who won big with Roulette

Throughout the many years that the Roulette wheel has been spun, there have been all kinds of wins produced through the art of correctly predicting where the ball will land next within the pocketed wheel at play. Of course, any win is down to Lady Luck herself, with players overcome with a sense of joy, elation and surprise when they guess the correct landing spot for the little white ball. This winning feeling can be found in players playing a game of online Roulette at Paddy Power, for example, or down their local brick-and-mortar establishment, all in a quest to get the Roulette wheel spinning and their chips multiplying.

With that being said, there have been quite a few substantial wins throughout the years, by players simply leaving winning down to fate. Let’s explore just three of the many wins created in a bit more detail. Scroll down to read on.

Charles Wells – Winning around 2,000,000 Francs in 1891

One night in 1891, Charles Wells visited one of the world’s most famous casinos, Monte Carlo Casino Resort. It was here that Wells decided to dabble in a few spins of Roulette, with sources claiming he played a streak of a lifetime, winning 23 out of 30 consecutive spins. His winning amounted to so much that he effectively broke the bank, meaning the table was completely out of money and no further gameplay could go ahead! That night, Wells won close to one million Francs. However, one million Francs didn’t seem enough for Wells, who returned sometime later and tried his luck again, where once again he walked away with over one million Francs.

It is hard to calculate just how much money he won in modern money, but it is likely to be in the tens of millions range.

Ashley Revell – Winning $270,000 in 2004

Now this is a win that will sound like a movie script when you read it – Ashley Revell decided it was time to make a change in his life, and to kickstart that, he did something very drastic. He decided to sell his house, his car, his watch, his clothes and add it toall the life savings he had, then jumped onto a flight to the home of the casino strip, Las Vegas, with the intention to wager every single penny on a game of Roulette.

In the end, Revell placed a wager worth $135,000 and bet it all on red. He watched in anticipation as the wheel began to spin and the ball entered into play. As the wheel began to slow, everyone watching could not believe their eyes as the ball landed on red 7. In one spin, Revell had doubled his net worth to $270,000, walking out richer than when he arrived, after having the guts to risk it all.

Chris Boyd – Winning $440,000 in 1994

Gathering his wager over the span of three years, Chris Boyd decided to bet $220,000 on one spin after flying to Las Vegas. He searched for a casino willing to take on such a large bet, as most casinos have a wagering limit much lower than this. The Binion Casino has a strict betting limit of $100,000, but made a one-time exception for Boyd, allowing him to place all $220,000 at one time. In addition to this, as the casino only held wheels of an American layout, they agreed to cover the 00 pocket, effectively turning the game into European Roulette.

Boyd placed his entire wager limit on red and miraculously, the ball landed on red 7, just like it did for Revell. Boyd doubled his money and walked out a very wealthy man.
