According to Mashable reports, Blake Chandlee, who is the Vice President of Global Business Solutions, stated that TikTok is not going to allow any of the political ads of any kind on their platform, even comprising paid political ads, advocacy ads, or else the issue ads.

Global Business Solutions Vice President for TikTok, Blake Chandlee, also said that paid political ads aren’t a fit for the immensely popular video sharing app.

He has also wrote in a blog post on Friday that the company is focused on “staying true” to the app’s “light-hearted and irreverent feeling that makes it such a fun place to spend time.”

Chandlee wrote in the post, which was also later published on TikTok’s website, “We will not allow paid ads that promote or oppose a candidate, current leader, political party or group, or issue at the federal, state, or local level — including election-related ads, advocacy ads, or issue ads,”

On the other hand, this does not point out that political content is also not going to be absent from TikTok. Political candidates will be permitted to have their own profiles where they can post content.

Chandlee also added that it’s “early days” for ad experimentation on TikTok, which has taken the internet by storm ever since it was launch two years back. The service let its users to create short videos with special effects as well as songs.

He added, “While we explore ways to provide value to brands, we’re intent on always staying true to why users uniquely love the TikTok platform itself: for the app’s light-hearted and irreverent feeling that makes it such a fun place to spend time,”

“In that spirit, we have chosen not to allow political ads on TikTok. Any paid ads that come into the community need to fit the standards for our platform, and the nature of paid political ads is not something we believe fits the TikTok platform experience.”

TikTok lets users to make and share short videos with special effects. The app is created by Beijing Bytedance Technology Co. The app is widely popular specially among young people around the world, where TikTok is available.

TikTok comprises of more than 500 million monthly active users internationally as per July 2018, according to a post on the company’s Chinese social media account. More recent data was not immediately accessible.

Also, the app has turn out to be enormously popular in rural India. As per to the app analytics firm Sensor Tower, TikTok has been downloaded more than 240 million times in India.

This July, as per to the analytics firm Sensor Tower report, worldwide, the app had been installed at least 1.27 billion times through this June.
