A BSP leader was shot dead in Uttar Pradesh’s Allahabad hours. The incident took place last night when bike-borne assailants opened fire on Mohd Shami.
The victim was a BSP leader. The identity of the bikers not yet revealed.

Shami was a history sheeter. In the recently held Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Shami contested against six times winner from Raghuraj Pratap Singh. Police officers are investigating the matter.
By the incident, his group reached on the Allahabad highway demanding immediate arrest of the bikers and security to his family members.
The Senior police said- Shami was a five-time president of the Mauaima block. He was involved in a number of criminal cases like murder and dacoity.
According to BSP, Shami joined the party last year. He had contested the assembly polls in 2002 against MLA Raghuraj who went on to become a minister in the previous government in UP.
The police force has blocked the area to keep the situation under control and Shami’s supporters who were on the highway dispersed, Police said, adding that a search was on to find those named in the FIR lodged by Shami’s family.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) making no compromises in regard to law and order in the state.
Samajwadi leader Naresh said- “We will request the UP government that no compromise should be done when it comes to law and order.”
“Before when such incidents took place during the Samajwadi party, the BJP dubbed administration as ‘Gundaraj’. Now their government is now in power and public can see the results”- Naresh.
