US Open 2016: Sania-Barbora knocked Out Of Women’s Doubles

The India’s hope of winning the US Open ended on Wednesday when Sania Mirza knocked out of the tournament from the quarter-finals of the US Open women’s doubles.

Sania and her partner Barbora Strycova were in a clash against the top-seeded duo of Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic, but the India’s tennis legend failed to make the impact and thus, knocked out of the tournament.

Although, Sania and Barbora started the match by taking a lead in the clash by 3-1 lead at the Grandstand Court here on Tuesday. But, in further part of the game, Sania failed to make a winning blow and paid the price in getting out of 136th edition of US Open.

The credit must be given to the duo of Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic, who hold their nerves and played dominant tennis throughout the match.

Sania world’s top-ranked doubles player and her partner Barbora reached the quarterfinal stage after defeating the Nicole Gibbs and Nao Hibino 6-4, 7-5 on the Grandstand court.

Meanwhile, with Sania Mirza’s depart from the US Open, India’s campaign at this tournament ended. Rohan Bopanna was earlier lost the match with his partner Gabriela Dabrowski on quarters final of men doubles.
