No one has expected this even the most experienced tennis experts that Roger Federer will be knocked out of the US Open. In an extreme five-set match, struggling with injury, Swiss maestro Roger Federer has been knocked out by world no.78 Grigor Dimitrov in the US Open 2019 on Wednesday.

No. 78 Bulgarian tennis player Grigor Dimitrov registered a 3-6, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 victory over Roger Federer for the duration of their US Open clash in order to secure a semi-finals spot in the tournament.
At the beginning, Federer got off to a good start as he won the first set by 3-6 as well as he gave a hard-hitting competition in the second set but the eventually lost at the end by 6-4.
This was the comeback of thirty-eight-year-old Federer in the tournament as well as he has also won the third set by 6-3. But, as the third set was finished and after losing the third set, Dimitrov came out furiously on Federer and amazingly secured a 6-4, 6-2 win in the further next two sets.
“It would be an understatement to say this would be the biggest win of his career if he can pull this off given where he was mentally coming into this tournament,” John McEnroe said of Dimitrov during the match.
There was a drawn-out break in the middle of the fourth and fifth set as Federer took a medical timeout and left the court.
“When is the last time we saw Federer walk off the court like this?” McEnroe said as the world anticipated the decider to get underway.
Dimitrov, after winning his victory said that he was a ‘little nervous’ in the first set.
Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) cited Dimitrov as saying, “It’s been a while since I played on that court, so in the first set I was a little nervous and I was just trying to find my rhythm around the court,”
He then further added, “He was serving really good, as he did throughout the whole match. The only thing I was telling myself was to stay in the match. I knew physically I was feeling really, really good,”
In the upcoming semi-finals round, Dimitrov is going to face the winner of Matteo Berrettini vs Gael Monfils’ clash who will fought against each other in order to secure the spot in seminafinals.
Talking about the on-going tournament, the 2019 US Open which marks the 139th edition of tennis’ US Open made its arrival on August 26. The tournament is also the fourth and final Grand Slam event of the year and will conclude on September 8.
This year, the tournament will be held on outdoor hard courts at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center located in the New York City.
The defending champions for this season are Novak Djokovic and Naomi Osaka in the men’s and women’s singles category, respectively.
