Kei Nishikori has amazed the whole world when he defeated the Wimbledon and Olympics winner and 2012 US Open champion, Andy Murray in US Open championship.
The Japanese star Nishikori was engaged in four hours-long battle with Murray and finally managed to reach the semifinal of the US Open by winning the match by 1-6, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1, 7-5.
Nishikori is now, just two matches away from going into the road record. If he will manage to win the single Grand Slam title, then he will become he first Asian man to capture a Grand Slam singles title.
Meanwhile, it is the second time when Nishikori has reached a semifnal stage of US Open before claiming runner-up spot in New York in 2014. Nishikori talked to media wing in an after match conference where he showed his excitement.
Nishikori told media wing that ” It was really exciting but I tried to be calm on the ground.” Although, Murray lost this match, but Nishikori accepted that he did not start well. He told media wing that ” Murray is a great returned and to be frank I did not start well in the beginning but later I managed to hold the nerves.”
On the other side, after losing this match, Murray informed media wing about this loss. He added ” “Definitely I would say to 4-1 I didn’t play a good game after I got out of the change of ends, and then he held pretty comfortably the next game.”
Meanwhile, the semifinal matches will begin on September 9, when defending champion Novak Djokovic take on 10th seeded Gael Monfils.
