Using technology to understand people before hiring, while conducting online interviews and remote working

Background checks and vaccination certificates are the new normal for people planning on leaving their homes or getting jobs in this pre-pandemic era. Companies are making sure that they have dotted their i’s and crossed their t’s so everyone is safe, especially the clients interacting with them. Getting back to the way things were pre Coronavirus seems like a myth and the only way we can move forward in adapting to the new changes that are coming around.

Companies changed their work schedules and started implementing remote working norms for their staff, which led to a lot of the office buildings being abandoned for most of the pandemic. While many companies moved to remote working, there were changes they could not get through. Furthermore, some companies could not move to work virtually or distantly and had to put the brakes on their work and consider starting again when restrictions were raised. The internet, a lot of software and various other sources allowed people to work remotely which would not have been possible had the same situation taken place about two or three decades earlier.

At the beginning of 2020, most companies saw their productivity decrease with people adjusting to the new changes. To reduce the number of people likely to catch the virus the authorities implemented various work from home mandates. They also passed rules about wearing masks in public and maintaining social distance.

After a rush to get to the fastest developed COVID-19 vaccine, countries were pushing to get the largest part of their population vaccinated. The biggest pharmaceutical companies around the world began their race to create a vaccine for the Coronavirus and while there was enough information to state it would not be ready in a year, they released their first round. They wanted to make sure that they were safe and did everything they could to reduce the spread of the virus. One of the primary post pandemic changes that took place was restrictions on the number of people visiting places that had a public element. They worked on making changes to structures and processes implemented and worked well for generations because the stakes had now changed. Everyone had to start moving to a virtual platform and only communicated with one another over the phone or virtually.

The new changes through the pandemic

People were no longer spending the way they would have if they were not going through a pandemic. There was massive uncertainty about jobs so a majority of industries were downsizing significantly making the process challenging. Eventually, people were spending money to renovate their homes because they were no longer leaving their houses and were spending most of their time there. However, remote working came with its challenges like finding a way to coordinate household chores and work, constantly getting distracted, and even making changes to their schedules because they were no longer bound by work hours.

Schools came with their challenges, and getting students to get through processes remotely was quite troublesome. Depending on the student’s age, their parents had to assist them by attending their classes because the online method took some time to get used to. Eventually, the process becomes challenging because students attending their classes have a short attention span.

Traveling was another challenge, with companies unsure how they would get through the process because they were getting all their client’s information and documents processed. However, when it came to traveling, they could not move. They primarily implemented travel restrictions to keep the vast population safe from others bringing the virus from other countries. However, the restrictions made it challenging to work on projects because of improper and delayed supply of raw material. Additionally, there were other challenges with the process, and they had to get through those as well. Projects that worked around construction were on hold for the most part because they could not get supplies with ease, and they had to work in person for the most part. Additionally, they had challenges to get through but could only function in limited capacities with smaller groups.

Companies were finding it challenging to hire people and were planning on getting through processes, making sure that the people they were getting on board were a good fit for the company. Employees and the HR teams could not meet the people they were interviewing in person, which made the process challenging, but they were coordinating the entire process virtually. They would have various rounds of interviews but had to make sure the person they were bringing in met all their requirements. Additionally, they had to make sure that they had the proper documentation to get through. The same technological changes allow companies to work on finding the most efficient people, even if they were not located nearby. Remote working meant that they could get things done through virtual meetings, which meant companies were working with the best options around the world.

With the easing up of the restrictions, companies were now calling in their staff in small numbers. They needed their employees or the people they were hiring to have a COVID vaccination certificate. Additionally, grocery stores had systems where they were pushing for no touch solutions. People could check out on their phone, scan codes or order their requirements at home which meant that they did not have to leave their house.

One of the challenges with employing a new team was that companies were no longer meeting the people they were considering hiring. Employees had to gather all their documents before their interview and one of these was an employee background check. Depending on the job that they were applying for, they needed to coordinate with a different platform and apply for a background check. The platform would coordinate with the police department and other offices and make sure they received a document that proved that they did not have a criminal record. There were some people who were not allowed to interact with others, and their employers had to make sure they were not putting them in those positions.
