The Screen Awards, (previously named Star Screen Awards), is an annual awards ceremony held in India honoring professional excellence in the Bollywood Film Industry. The nomination and award selection is done by a panel of distinguished professionals from the industry.

The Screen Awards, initiated by the chairman of The Express Group, Mr. Viveck Goenka in 1994, is focused on excellence in films in India. The awards attempts to position themselves as India’s first awards that are given by the film fraternity to the film fraternity by way of a jury, as opposed to the other “popular” awards. The awards are also the first to be conducted every year.

Kapil Sharma will infuse a comical element into the upcoming 22nd Annual Star Screen Awards as its host. For the past three years, the event was anchored by superstar Shah Rukh Khan.

It wasn’t just the celebs dressed in their fashionable best, star performances, and awards that made this year’s Screen Awards, held in Mumbai on January 8, a blockbuster affair. The night was fully star studded and so many actors from bollywood gave some breathtaking performance on the stage which includes, Ranveer Singh, Varun Dhawan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonakshi Sinha and many more.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone walked away with top honours at Star Screen Awards 2016. Ranveer won the best actor award for his brilliant performance in “Bajirao Mastani”, which he shared with megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who got it for “Piku”
