Set in the serene locales of Kashmir, Fitoor is a saga of love, yearning and obsession that transforms time and age. An adaptation of Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations, Fitoor is directed by the versatile filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor and stars Aditya Roy Kapur, Katrina Kaif, and Tabu in pivotal roles with a whole cast including Rahul Bhatt, Aditi Rao Hydari and even Ajay Devgn in supporting roles.
Speaking about the movie, director Abhishek Kapoor stated, “Fitoor is a distinct film trying to seize a different experience. It’s a rather fantastical story which requires a certain look, precise kind of sets, and a specific kind of lighting. Kai Po Che was often shot on real locations, but here, when you make locations and sets from scratch, it’s a completely different part of the story. As a director, I don’t want to repeat myself. The challenge is to be versatile.” and he proved so with his film and precise direction.
In the mystical corners of a valley, Noor (Aditya Roy Kapur) grows up in the shade of Begum (Tabu) and is completely smitten by her daughter Firdaus (Katrina Kaif). On understanding this, Begum decides to send Firdaus off to London and requests Noor to be successful in order to win Firdaus. The movie has a leap of 15 years, their paths cross and fate meets once again. Noor, a successful artist now, is still spellbound by Firdaus. But, she is now destined to mate Bilal (Rahul Bhatt) at the whims of Begum(Tabu).
Will their love win societal limits as the obsession, like they say will always find its way? Don’t forget to catch the premiere on &pictures Tonight at 8:30 P.m.
