Last to last year, that is, at the beginning of September 2019, the Amazon company shared their plan of bringing Amazon Sidewalk into the market. The objective of this new Sidewalk is to enhance the security and authenticity of smart home devices. Almost two years have been passed since that announcement was made and finally, Amazon is all set to launch its new Amazon Sidewalk in the United States and will start to unfold from 8th June 2021. However, we would like to draw attention to the fact that this sidewalk will be launching in the United States only.
Introduction to Amazon Sidewalk
The initial purpose of developing the sidewalk is to share a network that will keep our smart devices connected to the internet even when the internet connection is weak or unstable. The purpose is to provide a wide internet range network so that the users can work more efficiently and precisely even from a long distance. Sidewalk uses five elements naming Sidewalk Endpoints, Sidewalk Network Server, Sidewalk Bridges, Packets and application Servers.
Sidewalk creates a crowd-sourced mesh network and uses a tiny part of the internet from your neighbouring Amazon devices, which ultimately increases the internet range spectrum to 900 MHz Lo Ra so that the uses can work accurately even from a long distance. The Sidewalk Bridge used in the Amazon sidewalk uses a spectrum of 900 MHz Lo Ra along with an FSK (Frequency-shift Keying) and a low energy Bluetooth and gives a maximum bandwidth of 80Kbps.
