After the Tokyo Summer Olympics, the much-awaited international tournament, “2020 Summer Paralympics” commenced on 24th August 2012, and this time too we have some astonishing and outstanding athletes from India who have gone to the biggest sporting event of the world to represent India at the Tokyo Paralympics. Under the Table Tennis competition, India entered its two athletes named, “Bhavina Hasumkhbhai Patel” and “Sonelben Manubahai Patel”. The former one is representing India at the women’s individual C4 event while the other one represented India at the Individual C3 Event.

Bhavina Hasumkhbhai Patel: Para Table Tennis Player
After losing to South Korean table tennis player Lee M-g by 1-3, Sonal did not advance to round 16. However, Bhavina Patel from India won Round 16 against Brazil table tennis player, de Oliveira and advanced to the Quarterfinals. In the upcoming Quarter-Final match, Bhavina will be competing against Serbian table tennis player, Borsilava Peric-Rankovic under the Women’s Single Class 4 event on 27th August 2021 at 3:50 PM.
Bhavina Hasmukhbhai Patel is a Paralympian who is currently representing India at the Para Table Table Tennis C4 Event in the Toko Paralympics and is initially from Mehsana city of Gujarat, India. She performs table tennis in her wheelchair and has won various silver as well as gold medals at several competitions including National and International tournaments. Earlier, Patel took part in the “PTT Thailand Table Tennis Championship” under the Individual category in the year 2011 and earned a silver medal for India.
In the year 2013, Patel took part in the Beijing Asian Para Table Tennis Championships under the Women’s single Class 4 event and won the silver medal. Patel’s last competed at the Beijing International Table Tennis Federation Asian Para Table Tennis Championship, that was commenced on 23rd August and ended on 31st August 2017 and played against Korena player named “Kang” under the category of Women’s Singles Class 4. She defeated Kang by 3-0 and won a Bronze medal for India.
Bhavina’s current world ranking is Number 2 and she is constantly being trained by her coach Lalan Doshi and is also supported by team official Tejalben Lakhia. Although Sonal Patel could not advanced to Round 16, she undeniably played well. As previously discussed after defeating Brazilian player, de Oliveria by 3-0, Bhavina Patel has reached the quarterfinal at the 2020 Summer Paralympics. In the Quarterfinal match, she will compete against Siberian player, B Peric on 27th August 2021 at around 3:50 PM (IST).
