On Thursday morning, 5th August 2021, the New York police reported an incident that took place in the 2nd-floor office at 37-06 82nd St in the Jackson Heights neighborhood, where the police were informed by a maintenance mechanic about a dead body. As per the initial reports, it has been said that the New York police officials were notified about the murder of Queen’s divorce lawyer, identified as 65-year old Charles Zolot at around 5:50 AM on Thursday by a technician. During the primary investigating, it was found that Zolot was threatened by a client the day before he was killed.
The police reached the crime spot and discovered the body of the lawyer who was beaten brutally. The 65-year old lawyer’s body was covered with blood, his face was terribly smacked while he had several cut wounds to his chest. The day Zolot was killed is reported to be the day where he was scheduled to represent one of his clients in a preparatory conference at the Queens Supreme court. Moreover, if the statements of the lawyers who worked in the same premises where Zolo used to work are to be believed, then, it has been claimed by them that a client had warned Zolot just a night before.
A resident, as well as a lawyer who works at another law office on the same premises, stated that his dog had caught red droplets near the elevator of the building the day before, however, he simply presumed that it was some juice. The resident further stated, he sometimes brings his dog to his workplace and it was yesterday when he brought his dog here. It was around 4:30 PM when his dog urged him to go outside. He added when he and his dog reached the elevator, his dog was looking at the floor like she wanted to lick it.
It was then, the lawyer noticed blood spots and got confused. It looked like blood, but he was like, how could it be possible. He concluded it as some juice and brushed off his thoughts. Later, the resident received a text message stating Zolot was dead this morning. At first, he thought that it was because of a heart attack, but later he got to know from someone that Zolot was killed. In addition to this, the resident also unveiled that neither he nor any of the workers of the premises detected anything out of the ordinary. Zolot was single and almost a retired bachelor.
Talking about Zolot one of his colleagues stated, “Zolot was certainly the most reasonable rate of any lawyer in Jackosn heights. He was well versed in handling cases related to immigrants, absurd kinds of cases, most lower-middle-class clients. He held specialization in divorce and child custody matters and did his Law from Syracuse University College in 1981. He would often work late at night. The New York Police are investigating the Queens lawyer’s murder case, and it has been stated they have retrieved the security footage from the office which will help them to reach the probable suspect.
