As per to the sources, the Bharatiya Janata Party is going to form a coalition government with its long time ally Shiv Sena in spite of the tension as well as the rift that has been witnessed since the poll results were declared on October 24.

BJP emerged as the single largest party having 105 seats while Shiv Sena on the other hand have got 56 seats. Even after two weeks have passed, both of the parties have not staked claim to form government together or else separately till now.

The BJP, which is the single-largest party, has decided not to form a minority government. The party knows it very well that if it doesn’t have the numbers and still forms government, it would be giving Shiv Sena an opportunity to go willingly with the NCP-Congress alliance.

While on the other hand, Sena workers say that party chief Uddhav Thackeray is expected to take a final decision today, UPA alliance partners, Congress interim chief Sonia Gandhi as well as NCP president Sharad Pawar, are going to keep a close watch on the development.

The BJP as well as the Shiv Sena are locked in a tug-of-war over the dispute of the chief minister’s post, which further resulted in a stalemate in government formation. The Shiv Sena has also claimed top leaders of the party as well as the BJP had “agreed” on sharing the post  of the chief minister on a rotational basis and 50:50 distribution of portfolio in advance of the October 21 assembly polls in the state.

The BJP has, on the other hand, denied any such arrangement with the Uddhav Thackeray-led party as well as has claimed Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is going to carry on to hold the post for full term.

In the meantime, there are two options. The Shiv Sena as well as the BJP patch up and form the government or else the Shiv Sena explores other another possibility comprising alliance with the NCP to form the government with support of Congress.

In order to accomplish the first option to take shape the Shiv Sena is going to have to give up its demand for the position of chief minister or the BJP is going to have to accept 50-50 formula which has been demanded by Uddhav Thackeray’s party. Only then, a discussion can get started.

The other options comprise of inviting the single-largest party first as well as ask it if the party is ready to form government. On denial, the second largest party or any other feasible post-poll coalition might possibly be invited.

Shiv Sena continues to keep on adamant over its demand for rotational CM for Maharashtra. The BJP on the other hand have said that CM Devendra Fadnavis is going to carry on to remain the chief minister for the second term. As both sides declining to move down, time limit for the expiry of the tenure of preceding government has arrived. The coming hours are going to be very crucial for both BJP and Shiv Sena as the allies have to reach an agreement by tonight.
